Merry May

Turning boughs of green and gold,
verdant saffron garments folded
round my Lady's arms and shoulders,
in the merry May.
With sistrum strummed in lily hand,
asp and ash take Her command,
and loose the stars from where they stand
into Her starry wake.

Pomegranate, orange and plum,
spill out their fruitful bounty coming
forth at Her desire and from
the blossoms of the May.
Honeysuckle succulence,
and violets lush and violent
shall be Her scent and sustenance;
Our lilac Lady May

Silken scintillating sounds
cascade in cacophonic rounds
in tintinnabulation drowning
out the sullen rains.
For all is green by Her decree,
and sings to spring in symphonies,
and chant enchanting reveries
to stay the merry May.
