Mystery School Limericks

ON ROADS NOT TRAVELLED WITH PAUL
Alan Hohvanness wrote concerts using whale song,
Sadji was an Airedale, and Paul Mayer was not a
Dominican (a "hound of the Lord") but a Benedictine.

When orcas bored Alan Hohvanness,
To make his hosannas more honest
He added a choir
Of Sadji, Paul Mayer,
And twenty more domini canes.

A DIAL-A-GOD CALL TO ATHENA
Athena so cold was a mystery
To a satyr whose letches were blistery
So he reached in her cowl
And petted her owl.
He used to be myth. Now he's history.

ANOTHER COMICAL MYSTERY
Shame on the shaman or magus
Who tranced by the Rhine or the Tagus
When asked to descry
The next life would reply,
"I'm sorry, I haven't the vaguest."

A SALTY WALK WITH GANDHI
Of Mohandas I only say "Ah ha!
Here's a man knows his satyagraha.
He sleeps with his nieces
Whenever he pleases
With hardly a tee-hee or a ha-ha."

MOVIN' ON UP FROM UNCLE TOM
The Jeffersons must have had spunk or
Been crazy or desparate or drunk for
It couldn't be mellow
To leave Monticello
To move in beside Archie Bunker.
